Always Committed Towards the Weaker Sections of the Society

At Manav Sthali School, the staff & students have always committed themselves towards creating an awareness of the duty of “manav “to 'manav” through education. Eradication of illiteracy from weaker section of the society has been a prime objective of all the Manav Sthalians.

Initiation of Literacy project at Manav Sthali School

This commitment dates back to year 1988, when National Literacy Mission (NLM) was launched by the late Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi. Manav Sthali School under the leadership of Mrs. Mamta Bhatnagar, Director & Founder Principal, was selected as one of the leading schools of Delhi to spread the light of literacy to the maximum. Since then,Manav Sthalians are striving ahead with fervor for the cause of people & children at the national & international level.

Manav Sthalians have imparted the gift of literacy to more than 11,762 illiterate citizens as on 2007. Around 850 volunteers are working hard towards bringing about literacy & Post literacy programmes this year.

Education for All & Twinning Progrmme at the school

Mrs. Bhatnagar was appointed as the associate co-coordinator for Rajendra Nagar Constituency in the central zone under Education for All project (EFA) launched by the then Secretary Education, Shri S.Regunathan, where the emphasis is on the upliftment of slums & jhuggis. A portion of Bappa Nagar & J.J Cluster behindAhimsa Bhawan, Shankar Road was adopted earlier under the scheme successfully & this year, we have adopted a part of Budh Nagar, Inder Puri, & J.J Cluster at Rattan Puri Chowk near Pusa Insititute Rajendra Nagar for complete literacy, vocational & health related programmes.

The School Improvement Programme initiated in August 2001 as “Twinning Programme” where a Public School is attached to a Govt School has been a successful step towards a brighter future. The bonds of mutual understanding between the schools have strengthened by sharing physical & human resources with Dayanand Saraswati Girls Sr. Sec. School, old Rajendra Nagar.

Strategy for the efficient working under Literacy Project- Motto “to reach to the maximum illiterates”

Proper strategy was laid down for the effective functioning & execution of the literacy programme. The concepts laid were need for mass contact, establishment of a rapport with the illiterates, confidence building, organizing existing infrastructure & so on. To promote literacy & motivate the learners, they are called to school frequently giving them an opportunity to see the bounties of education that only a school can bestow as they are taken to school library, science labs, projection room and encouraged to participate in declamations, quiz contests. In short, they are treated as the students of this institution. Facilities like free transportation, refreshment, medical aid, stationaryetc are provided by the school to facilitate them further in their studies. Such visits inculcate in them the feeling of oneness & belongingness to the school. Their assessment tests are taken in the school to track their progress.
