Manav Sthali School, R-Block, New Rajendra Nagar, New Delhi inaugurated Literacy week on Tuesday, 09 th September 2008 at 10:00AM in the School Auditorium. Mr. Shekhar Dutt SM, Deputy National Security Adviser, Govt. of India was the chief Guest on the occasion.
Mrs. Mamta V Bhatnagar, Director, Manav Sthali School has always been inspiring & motivating her team of teachers & students to be committed towards an awareness of the duty of Man to Man, Manav to Manav by extending education to include social awareness. From the very outset her emphasis has been to extend education well beyond the academic bounds of the classroom to community welfare programmes & social awareness projects like Dengue Prevention, contribution towards the Indian Red Cross Society , Helpage India, Cancer Aid Society & Literacy Programmes.
The presence of eminent personalities from Ministry of Education, Embassies, Principals of prestigious schools of Delhi & around, Mrs. Rajni Kumar, Honorary Adviser, Delhi Schools Literacy Project (DSLP), Mrs. Sushmita Dutt, Programme Officer, UNICEF, inspired the volunteers & staff to carry their relentless campaign with zeal & enthusiasm. The learners are also a part of the whole programme where they were provided with an opportunity to display their talent & build self confidence in them.
Items showcased on the occasion
The spectacular event was commenced with lighting the lamp of knowledge followed by the literacy pledge to dispel the darkness of illiteracy & light the lamp of knowledge & the inauguration ceremony of the literacy week.
The highlights of the occasion were song “Aashain” & Folk Dance presented by the learners which were very inspiring for everyone present.

Song by the choir group -“Rukne Ka Na Thamne Ka Nahin Koi Sawal”, “Message of Literacy”- a captivating dance , “Tamso Ma Jyotirgamay” - a street play & performance by the school band spreading the message of right of education for all & many other items as well . All the items were flawlessly choreographed & coordinated to feel the spirit & strength of education.
Manav Sthali’s Commitment to Literacy & Social Cause
Our commitment in achieving the noble cause of eradicating illiteracy dates back to year 1988 when “National Literacy Mission” was launched by Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. Since then Manav Sthalians are striving ahead with fervor & zeal for the cause of people & children at the national & international level. In the year 2007, Manav Sthali had adopted a part of Budh Nagar, Inderpuri & J.J.Cluster at Rattan Puri Chowk near Pusa Institute, Rajendra Nagar New Delhi for complete literacy, vocational & health related programmes.
Manav Sthalians have imparted the gift of literacy to more than 11,762 illiterate citizens. Till date around 850 volunteers are working hard towards bringing about literacy & Post literacy programmes.

Speaking on the occasion, the beacon of knowledge, Mrs. Mamta Bhatnagar, Director & Founder Principal Manav Sthali School expressed that the work of spreading the light of literacy is even nobler than building temples. She shared her experience with all the learners & made them understand that the purpose of education is to furnish the means of acquiring knowledge which is the greatest advantage that can be conferred upon mankind. She is truly the source of inspiration for all the volunteers & staff to continue their efforts for eradicating illiteracy.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Shekhar Dutt, while addressing the gathering wholeheartedly appreciated the sincere & earnest efforts of Manav Sthali. He emphasized that like Manav Sthalians it is very necessary to have a commitment to a cause & only then can we give the best to that cause. He appreciated the efforts & hard work put in by Manav Sthali School to spread the light of literacy to remove the darkness of ignorance. He said that at Manav Sthali School is nurturing the true “Manavs” of the society & future responsible citizens of the nation.
Mrs Rajni Kumar, Honorary Adviser, (DSLP) congratulated Manav Sthali for carrying the work of literacy with full zeal &enthusiasm. She stressed on the need & importance to educate girl child & women of the country. She complimented that Manav Sthali School is a school with heart & to become good human beings is the true essence of Manav Sthali. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all present.
