SOCIAL AND GLOBAL AWARENESS

OUR CONCERN AND CARE FOR SOCIETY'S WEAKER SECTIONS..
Students of Manav Sthali are geared to become socially aware to understand their duty to society and to mankind. Eradication of illiteracy from among the weaker sections of society has been the objective. Eradication of illiteracy from among the weaker sections of society has been the objective, which dates back to the year 1988 when "National Literacy Mission" (NLM) was launched by Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The students have imparted the gift of literacy to more than 11,000 illiterate people. The humble and noble efforts have been recognized by the State Resource Centre, Jamia Milia Islamia which conferred on the school the "Sufia Ajmali Memorial Trophy" for 6 consecutive years from 1990-1996, for imparting literacy to maximum number of people. For the last 3 consecutive years, the school has been the proud recipient of the UNICEF Trophy for outstanding work in the field of Adult Literacy. Currently, we have around 850 volunteers working hard towards bringing about Literacy, and pursuing Post Literacy Programmes.

Further more, the school has been involved in "Education For All" (EFA) project launched by Delhi Sarva Shiksha Samiti, under NCT of Delhi. A portion of the Bappa Nagar Area was adopted earlier under the scheme successfully, and this year also we have adopted the slum dwellings behind Ahimsa Bhavan, near Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi, for complete literacy programmes. The school Improvement Programme initiated in August 2001 as "Twinning Programme" has been a successful step towards a brighter future.

With a determination in their hearts to eradicate this bane, especially from the weaker sections of society, 150 students of Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School of Class IX have taken a vow to teach students in the vicinity of their residence under the Twinning Programme. Christened as "Each One Teach One", this programme motivates our students to impart the gift of literacy to the less privileged ones. The bonds of mutual understanding between the schools have strengthened by sharing our physical and human resources in the past year.

THE SCHOOL WITH A GLOBAL REACH.
We believe that the world is one family and unity among people and nations should be preserved for a better tomorrow and as a part of this global awareness our student delegations are sent every year to other countries for cross cultural exchanges to make them aware of the rich heritage, culture and tradition under "Children's International Summer Villages" (CISV) and "International School to School Experience" (ISSE). Our aim is to promote world peace and cultural harmony among different countries; our students are being sent as "Ambassadors of Peace" from India. These camps are fused with the mission of bringing about Social and Global Awareness driven by the idea of International Cooperation and Global fraternity. The programme promotes respect and understanding of different cultures.

ECO-CLUB OF MANAV STHALI SCHOOL
The guiding force behind our involvement in the field of Environmental Awareness and Protection is our Founder Chairman Dr. V.K. Bhatnagar. He has created awareness amongst the children to have reverence for the umpteen gifts nature has bestowed on us and to cherish and preserve it forever. He lays stress on the plantation of saplings by everybody, because a "fully-blossomed tree" in future is what will give us a clean environment.

The school in its continuing efforts to realize the importance of inculcating among the students a sense of respect and responsibility towards the environment has always taken initiative to spread awareness and further develop the thought process of students to critically analyze environmental issues.

Eco-Club is actively involved in promoting environment related issues such as wise usage of paper, saving electrical energy, reusing containers, saving water and taking care of trees. Recycling is second nature to the school and the children are well-tuned to all aspects of environment related protection.
